External Education Specialist

Position Overview:

The External Education Specialist is responsible for educating local and global communities and other FLM beneficiaries. This includes facilitating trainings and workshops, creating projects that revolve around the specialist’s passions related to social justice-oriented education, and assisting other Education Team members in their workstreams. 

Position Responsibilities: (Workload: 5-8 hrs/wk)

  • Assist in Education Team project implementation including transformative reading groups, trainings and workshops, and lecture series. 

  • Curate innovative educational opportunities for organizations, school faculty and staff, student and youth groups that align with FLM’s vision 

  • Build out learning objectives for external education resources in coordination with other FLM members and teams. 

  • Facilitate trainings and workshops 

Required Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience with facilitating difficult conversations in a group setting

  • Passion for social justice and transformation

  • Experience with creating educational events and/or programs 

  • Strong ability to closely collaborate with multiple team members  

Education Team Description 

The Education Team focuses heavily on the continued process of building out FLM’s living curriculum – ensuring that it adapts and molds with best practices in anti-oppressive and culturally relevant education. The education team keeps FLM’s sights on our goal of creating a holistic school and approaches its educational work in both external and internal ways. Externally through trainings and workshops and internally through continual learning processes for FLM members. The education team houses the Deconstructing Masculinity program, LGBTQIA+ programming, a reading group, and more.
