Kelli Pyron Alvarez is an Education Specialist for FLM. She is a long-time educator and her primary focus is on educational projects and developing the academic aspect of the FLM school. She is also an abolitionist and member of Against Carceral Feminism OK and a graduate of the first SAFE Commune cohort. In her other work, she focuses on identity and representation in film and television and the ways in which white supremacy impacts and is reflected in American society.
Outside of FLM, Kelli is a teaching professor and working on her PhD in Educational Studies. Her published works focus on race, identity, and representation in film and television, and current work interrogates the relationship between bio/necro politics and the ways in which we view and embody education. Kelli joined FLM to continue her work with/in communities near Oklahoma and because of this she believes in the mission and goals of FLM—a liberated mind is a free mind.
Kelli holds a BA in English Literature from the University of North Texas, an MA in Native American Studies, and an MA in English, both from the University of Oklahoma.
