Pay Scale: (Salary/$50,000) + robust benefits

Position Type: Full-Time Exempt 

Location: Oklahoma City-based 

Work Format: In-person required

Position Description:

The SAFE Commune Lead is an experienced transformative/restorative justice leader eager to drive the implementation of FLM’s community-based response network. This role will focus solely on this program that educates the community on transformative justice approaches, trains community members to become TJ practitioners, and supports trained Network Members in facilitating community interventions through transformative justice. This role will take on its own caseload of clients through TJ processes. This includes the work of facilitating difficult discussions, connecting participants with necessary resources, and circle-keeping.

The Foundation for Liberating Minds (FLM) works to disrupt the root causes of oppression and marginalization through transformative education. We organize trainings and workshops in addition to various community-based programs. Our work is carried out by our Black-led, multiracial, multicultural, multiethnic collective of members. It is our ultimate goal to create The Liberation School OKC, featuring our transformative, anti-oppressive curriculum and holistic frameworks for student thriving.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Transformative Justice process facilitation (30%)

    • Connecting with survivors of harm and people who have caused harm in addition to parties impacted by the harm to work through a process that heals, supports accountability, and leaves all participants safer and closer to whole. 

    • Data entry throughout processes 

  • Network Support (25%)

    • Developing curriculum alongside stakeholders

    • Hosting Network meetings to create space for supporting practitioners

    • Support creating a culturally principled space for all members of the Network 

    • Support novice practitioners in their first processes 

  • Partner Outreach & Buy-in (25%)

    • Develop strong relationships with service providers and garner support for Transformative Justice across the community

    • Data entry 

  • Practitioner Training Co-Lead (20%)

    • Co-lead the training of practitioners in Transformative Justice models alongside Co-Executive Director 

Required Experience /Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-5+ years of experience doing Transformative/Restorative Justice work in marginalized communities 

  • Cultural competence and adaptation 

  • Strong emotional regulation and internal reflection and healing practices in order to hold space in traumatic instances 

  • Passionate about creating safe communities 

  • Core values of accountability and integrity

  • Invested in conflict transformation 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Keen analysis of interlocking systems of oppression

  • Familiarity with abolitionist thought and practice  

  • Survivor of violence 

  • Formerly incarcerated and/or impacted by the carceral state 

Work Hours & Compensation

  • FLM full-time staff members work a total of 32 hours per week, Monday-Thursday. 

  • Some evenings and weekends are required. FLEX time will be provided based on these out-of-standard-work-hour engagements that require the position’s attendance 

  • FLM provides medical, dental, & vision insurance, 3 weeks paid vacation leave, 2 additional paid weeks off for rest and rejuvenation at different points in the year, % matched 401(k), 5 wellness and healing days per year, unlimited sick or mental health leave, paid professional development opportunities and paid parental leave. 

Travel

  • Some travel is required for this position, including but not limited to community meetings, conferences, FLM-related meetings, and fundraising events. Necessary accommodations will be made.
